General Membership Meeting

Come on out for our Fall General Membership Meeting.

Guest Speaker Gordon Laxer

Gordon is the founding Director and former head of Parkland Institute at the University of Alberta in Edmonton and also served on the board of the Council of Canadians from 2004 to 2009. Parkland is a non-corporate research institute that does public policy research to serve the public interest. He is a Political Economist and professor emeritus at the University of Alberta. He is the author of After the Sands. Energy and Ecological Security for Canadians (Sept 2015). He is also the author or editor of five other books, has been published in major papers across the country and interviewed several times on CBC’s The Current, As it Happens, and the House.

Gordon is going to touch on a Green New Deal, energy transition and the role of labour. The Green New Deal is an ambitious plan to address climate change and economic justice that is slowly gaining traction with both grassroots movements and politicians.
